Coaching & Mentoring of Senior Staff

Helping Good Leaders Become Great Ones

A team building exercise Guillermo ran for the entire organization at the City of White Rock. Leadership is learned by doing, and practical exercises reveal how a team actually communicates and makes decisions in ways a presentation never will.

Some of the most important work in local government isn't policy or budgets. It's leadership. Organizations succeed when their leaders are engaged, confident and understand not just what needs to be done, but why it matters.

At Ferrero Forward Consulting, we coach and mentor leaders at every level, from emerging managers to senior management and CAOs, helping them grow into stronger, more effective versions of themselves.

Culture Starts with Leadership

Throughout his career, Guillermo built organizational cultures where staff stayed engaged, informed and connected to purpose, not just told what to do, but why it mattered. At both the City of White Rock and the Town of Ladysmith, that approach carried through to the end of his tenure in each organization, reflected in staff who remained motivated, informed and invested in the organization's direction.

That same philosophy shapes our coaching and mentoring work: real, lasting organizational change doesn't come from directives. It comes from developing leaders who know how to motivate people, communicate purpose and build trust, and we have practical, proven methods for helping leaders achieve meaningful change in a short period of time.

A Track Record of Developing Leaders

One example: while at the City of Nanaimo, Guillermo was asked to coach a rising member of the finance team into the role of Manager of Revenue Services. Through that coaching relationship, she successfully transitioned into the position, went on to lead the department with distinction for years, and later moved into a significantly more senior leadership role with the Town of Ladysmith, where she continues to be respected as a leader across the province.

That kind of outcome is exactly what our coaching and mentoring work is designed to produce: leaders who don't just fill a role, but grow into it and beyond it.

Who We Work With

  • Emerging Managers: building the foundational leadership, communication and decision-making skills needed to step into greater responsibility
  • Senior Management: sharpening strategic thinking, organizational influence and the ability to lead through change
  • CAOs and Executive Leaders: confidential, experienced-based coaching from people who have sat in the same chair, navigated Council relationships and led organizations through real challenges

  • Practical, real-world guidance grounded in decades of municipal leadership, not generic leadership theory
  • A focus on communication, motivation and building trust across an organization
